Full-size character in 1:48. Our O scale couplers are investment cast in small batches, with top- and bottom-operating details and manufacturer stampings that reward a closer look.

Compatible shanks are designed for draft gear boxes used with Kadee #740, #745, #804 and #805 couplers. Check the fit, swing and height on your particular model. For a more detailed installation, see our DGB48 box below or the boxes offered by Smoky Mountain Model Works.

Couplers are supplied unblackened. If you prefer a chemically blackened finish, select the "Blackened" option when ordering.

O Scale Draft Gear Box

We highly recommend picking up some excellent protoypical draft gear boxes from our friends at Smoky Mountain Model Works

The DGB48 brings a narrower profile and prototype details to an O scale draft gear installation. The back can be shortened by up to 9 mm where space is limited. An optional spring, not included, fits between the end of the shank and the spring locating nub to provide centering. Depending on the model, the lid’s lip may require changes to the end sill or mounting-hole position. The lip can also be filed off without affecting coupler operation.

The DGB48 is supplied in unfinished gray printed resin. Paint it to finish the installation and help protect the resin from UV exposure.

Spare Parts

Spare balls and springs are useful to keep at the workbench. We will replace parts lost during assembly at no charge, but a spare pack lets you carry on without waiting for a replacement.
